DC CARE | MCU | Cherish | Fall 2017 | East Campus

September 25th - October 30th, 2017

Most marriages survive by gritting teeth and holding on.

But marriages can and will not only survive but thrive when husbands and wives learn to cherish one another.

Those are the powerful words of bestselling author Gary Thomas in his newest book Cherish. And in a world desperate for marriage redemption, it is needed now more than ever.

Thomas shows that although there are a countless number of marriages consisting of two people just going through the motions, there are real ways this pattern can be reversed: when husbands and wives learn to cherish one another in proven, loving, and everyday actions and words.Through personal stories and real world examples, Thomas proves what husbands and wives can begin doing today to turn their marriage around even a marriage marred by neglect and disrespect.

So how do you cherish your spouse? Thomas will show you how going out of your way to notice them, appreciate them, honor them, encourage them, and hold them close to your heart will bring hope, light, and life into your marriage.”

September 25th - November 27th, 2017

$0 - $28

For richer, for poorer. For better, for worse. From this day forward... Is it really possible to have a marriage relationship that rises above every issue in life? Is it really possible to navigate every distraction, every temptation, and every decision in a manner that honors our marital commitment? Authors and pastors of LifeChurchTV, Craig and Amy Groeschel, share from their marriage what they believe has fail-proofed their marriage. These are some of the questions they address: How do we seek God as a couple? What does that look like? When arguing, don’t strive for personal victory but marital resolution. Fun should be face-to-face, side-by-side, and belly-button to belly-button! How can we empower purity in our marriage when the whole world is lowering the standards of purity? Cost: $28 per couple (includes workbook for each spouse)

DC Men | Twelve Disciples of Jesus PM Study | East Campus

September 28th - November 16th, 2017

Join us for a study as we go through Losers Like Us: Redefining Discipleship After Epic Failure by Daniel Hochhalter.

For the broken and the sinner… For the misfit and the outcast… If you look in the mirror and all you see is a loser looking back, then take heart. You are in good company.

Losers Like Us: Redefining Discipleship After Epic Failure intertwines Dan’s own story of loss and brokenness with that of Jesus’ twelve disciples to show how our “loser” traits, like theirs, are the very qualifications required to receive God’s love and grace, and to manifest his kingdom on earth. Jesus doesn’t just accept losers. He uses them for his work.

DC Care | Hope For Hurting Parents | East Campus

September 28th - December 14th, 2017

As parents how do we hold onto hope for our children when they have decided to engage severe and painful choices? How do we cope with our child’s poor and sometimes dangerous decisions and behaviors? What do we do when they just will not listen?

When your child has “come of age” and “gone out of control” how do you help them? What should you do? What shouldn’t you do? Knowing the best approach to take with your child when they aren’t listening can be so confusing. As parent’s we grieve over our child’s choices. Within a matter of moments our heart’s can go from grief to anger to despair as our child rejects our counsel and chooses a path we know is full of harm and pain.

This group exists to comfort, guide and support you during these difficult parenting seasons. Hear from other parents who have traveled the road before you. Receive practical and loving guidance from those who lead and attend the group. Be empowered to set healthy boundaries for yourself, for your family, and for your child. Discover how to respond as opposed to reacting to the circumstances you find yourself dealing with.

Hope for Hurting Parents invites you to join them at any time whenever you are ready to receive guidance, support, and care.

Upon registration, a facilitator will reach out with dates, times, and locations. If you have any questions, please e-mail infoeast@discoverychurch.org

The Larger Story Boot Camp

You are invited to attend a boot camp, based on John Eldredge’s book, Wild at Heart.

This is not just another men’s retreat. It’s a three-day, three-night quest into the recovery of a man’s masculine soul, the release of man’s heart-his passions, and the reclaiming of territory taken by the enemy. Through teaching sessions, films, guided periods of reflection and journaling, the boot camp experience is designed with one primary objective: to restore the hearts of men through a fresh encounter with Jesus.
